Puppy Love

Anyone who reads my books can probably guess that I'm an animal lover.  Here are some of my friends and companions:

Meet Sophie and Daisy, two boisterous Golden Retrievers.  They're over a year old now, but they have the energy and spirit of little puppies.  Here they jostle for one of their favorite toys.

Meet some newer additions to our family!  Zoey, my daughter and son-in-law's Golden Retriever is on the left, and my Golden Retriever Lexi is on the right.  Aren't they beautiful?

Lexi and Zoey perform their famous balcony scene.

Sophie appears to be thirsty!

Sophie, Daisy and Lexi wage an epic

battle to determine who is the true

Lord of the Rings.

Here is Molly, a lovable mutt who showed up one day and never left.

Meet Jerry the Pug, a frequent guest from my son and daughter-in-law's home in California.  Can you tell which is real and which is the statue?

Jerry demonstrates his techniques for fighting California wildfires.

Okay, so this isn't really a puppy.

The latest addition to my menagerie of four-legged friends is Buddy, an affectionate mule I adopted after he terrorized a garden party and pushed a woman into the bushes!

In Memoriam

2004 was a sad year in my household -- within the space of a few weeks, both my dog Casey and my daughter and son-in-law's dog Jaime passed away. These pictures, taken in the last weeks of their lives, happen to be among my favorites.  I'll always miss these cherished members of my family.

This is Casey, a Black Lab who was one of the sweetest and smartest dogs I've even known.

This is Jaime, who visited daily from my daughter and son-in-law's house. She was a beautiful Golden Retriever who absolutely loved all the attention she received.

We call this picture "Jaime in the Jungle."
